10 Bars in NQ You Need To Visit
Northern Quarter is one of Manchester’s golden gems, and the home of independent bars. We could only describe it as being a hipster’s dream & if you’re into exploring at university, you 100% need to check it out; it’s very instagram-able. We’ve put together a list of 10 of our favourite bars in NQ that redefine craft beer, cocktails and hangovers.
Cane & Grain & The Liars Lounge
*RUM, RIBS, BOURBON, BEER*…
Cane & Grain delivers one of the best ranges of craft beers, and extensive list of unreal cocktails in Manny. Ideal first date location if you’re looking to impress, as you can start off downstairs with some lively atmosphere, or head upstairs to Liars Lounge, with a tiki-dive bar and Caribbean theme.
Terrace in NQ is a hidden gem, hosting range to over 75 different draught, bottled and craft beers, there really is something for everyone. It also has one of the best sun traps in Manchester, with a terrace beer garden up the back stairs, ideal for catching some much needed #rays.
Located on Tariff Street, Kosmonaut is another underrated bar bringing you big vibes in NQ. This your go to gaff for unusual craft beer & liquor. They also have a really good food menu, with 50% off on Mondays from 4pm; what better way to kick off the week.
Lost in Tokyo
Have you ever been lost in Tokyo? Probably not, unless you’re lucky enough to have been to Japan on a gap yaaaah. But don’t worry, you can now get Lost in Tokyo in Manchester.
This Japanese-inspired basement bar delivers some quirky cocktails you’ll struggle to find anywhere else, so we couldn’t recommend this bar highly enough.
For the more sophisticated student…
The Fitzgerald is a vintage drinking den, providing some mega martinis & mojitos. With live Jazz & Swing DJs on the weekend, what more could you want? We’ll certainly be going back very soon…
As Paul McCartney once said ‘I am the egg man, They are the egg men, I am the walrus, Goo goo g’joo’, we knew it could one day be used in a blog article about Walrus in Northern Quarter, so cheers Paul mate.
This basement cocktail bar delivers cool NQ vibes, and happy hours galore, with drinks deals most nights. Not to mention their Boozy Brunch every Sunday, giving you a full english breakfast & copious amounts of prosecco, say no more…
Give a medal to the person who decided to grab the @buymoreshit instagram username!!
Convenience Store in NQ pride themselves in not being another f****n’ Tesco Express, but instead offer some of the best named cocktails we’ve ever heard of (Flaming Moe, Stranger Tings 2 & Voodoomart are our personal favourites). They also post loads of Simpsons memes on their Insta, and we really rate that.
Affleck and Brown
On the corner of Tib Street & Hilton Street, Affleck and Brown *in a cockney accent* is a propa boozaa. Beers, cocktails, you know the score, Affleck & Brown is up there with one of our favourite bars in Manc, so get yourselves over there when you get a chance.
Pizza and Tequila. Name a better duo, i’ll wait…
Crazy Pedros in NQ is the ultimate shout for a few cold ones with your mates, and their pizza is to die for. May’s current special is called ‘I Don’t Like Cricket, I Love It’, which actually has dead crickets as a topping.. don’t knock it before you try it (it actually tastes unreal). Beer pong, arcade games & a quality playlist makes Crazy Pedros one of the hottest venues in MCR right now; no wonder they’ve opened 2 more in Deansgate and Liverpool.
Luck Lust Liquor & Burn
🌮 Tacos, Dreamos & Burrito Supremos 🌮
Luck Lust Liquor & Burn provides the best Mexican cuisine in the 0161, and brings a whole new level to the cocktail game. They do a killer happy hour Sunday-Friday between 4-8pm, with 2 for £10 cocktails & £3 draught beer, so it’s student friendly. £1 tacos on Tuesdays as well tho, say whaaaat.
